I’ve finally finished the translation to one of the cuter songs in Mafumafu’s album, Christnight Parade! I especially enjoyed working on this b/c it feels like a detailed scene out of a storybook, but with a realistically bittersweet twist (⁎⚈᷀᷁▿⚈᷀᷁⁎) 

I’ve changed the English name into “Christnight Parade” for this post instead of “Crysnight Parade” because I believe Mafumafu derived the “Christ” in the song title from Christmas, which is hinted in the lyrics with the Santa & ringing bell motifs. While I had been referring to the song as “Crysnight Parade” up until now b/c I thought it’d be better to use the more widespread name, after consulting with destination-of-fate, I thought changing the title would be the better choice. *Translator’s Note:
The song is based on a Japanese saying “窮鼠猫を噛む” (Kyuuso Neko wo Kamu), which literally means “a cornered rat will bite the cat” and figuratively “despair turns cowards courageous”. As such, the song is narrated from the rat’s point of view, and describes the details to his decision to fight back despite being disadvantaged. The chorus line of “bite the predator cat and don’t let the predator cat bite you” in particular encourages those who are undermined to create an unlikely “miracle” for themselves instead of letting the usual, disadvantageous result happen once again.
